The qualifying path, from the association's page
Re-read 2026-10-14. The NIAA wrestling "Meet Information & Brackets" page (linked from niaa.com/sports/wrest/index), under "2026-27 Region/State Meet Information and Results": "State Girls Meet (Feb. 19-20 at Rafter 3C Arena, Fallon)", the same days and site as the Class 3A and 2A State Boys Meets; the Class 5A and 4A State Boys Meets are Feb. 26-27 at TBD. The Northern and Southern Region Girls Meets are Feb. 5-6 at TBD (a TrackWrestling listing had said January 30-31, 2027; the NIAA page is followed). It is the first girls' state meet since the NIAA Board of Control voted on June 3-4, 2025 "to approve the sanctioning of Girls Wrestling, starting in the 2026-27 school year"; from 2022-23 through 2025-26 the NIAA ran it as the Girls State Invitational. The NIAA's 2026-2027 Wrestling Reference still says the top four placers from each region "qualify for the eight (8)-person state girls wrestling invitational", a sentence carried unchanged from its 2025-26 Reference; the Board's vote is followed. The NIAA's sources differ on the format: the Board's January 27-28, 2026 minutes say girls' wrestling "will be fully implemented as its own standalone state championship", while the meet page holds the State Girls Meet on the same days and at the same arena as the Class 3A and 2A boys' meets; this row lists girls' brackets inside the state championships, following the meet page. The 2026 girls' state event ran with the 2A/3A/5A championships February 13-14, 2026 (a third-party listing).

Past the state final

One rule worth knowing before the series: a girl's legal minimum weight is built on the 19 percent body fat floor, not the boys' 7 percent. How making weight works covers the certification and what your state enforces at the scale, and the girls' and women's weight classes page lists every set by level, with the one each state wrestles.
The season does not end at the state final for a girl who wants more. The national tournaments with a girls' division, from Preseason Nationals in October to Fargo, the Junior and 16U Nationals in July, are on the national calendar for girls and women.
