The national calendar for girls and women
Every national tournament that runs a girls' or women's division, in the order the season runs them, from the September showcase to Fargo in July. A tournament is on this page only when we could read the division off the organizer's own page, and a date is here only when the organizer has posted one.

How the season runs
Fall is folkstyle and it is open. Preseason Nationals in October and the Super 32 take entries from anyone, and Who's Number One is a showcase you have to be invited to. This is the stretch where a girl finds out where she stands before her school season starts.
December belongs to the invitationals. IRONMAN, Reno, POWERade and the Midlands all run between the middle of the month and New Year. The IRONMAN takes team entries and says on its own page that it does not accept requests from parents, so ask your coach in October rather than in December.
March is the college championships. The NCAA, the NAIA and the junior college tournament all run in the first two weeks, and the folkstyle nationals for high school age wrestlers sits in the middle of them.
April to July is freestyle and it is a ladder. Women's Nationals and the U.S. Open in April, the Challenge Tournament in May, Final X in June, Fargo in July. For a high school girl the ladder is the state series, then a regional, then her state's Fargo team.

Who's Number One, girls' division

FloWrestling's invitational showcase, one match per wrestler, on the last weekend of September. It sets the tone for the season rather than settling anything.

U.S. Marine Corps Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals (girls' grade school, middle school, and high school divisions)

USA Wrestling's first national folkstyle event of the school year, and the one most high school girls meet first. It is a genuine open entry.

Northwestern's holiday open, in its 61st edition in December 2025, where college wrestlers and unattached seniors enter the same bracket.
Girls and women A women's freestyle division, held every year since the 58th edition in 2022. The 61st ran on 29 and 30 December 2025; Northwestern had not posted the 62nd when we read the page.

NCAA National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships

The NCAA championship, first held in March 2026 and won by McKendree. Division I, II and III programs wrestle the same bracket.
Girls and women Ten weight classes, 103 to 207 pounds, freestyle. Entry is through one of six regionals in February.

The NAIA championship, in its fifth year in 2027. Life (Georgia) has won the last two.

The junior college national championship, run as the NJCAA Women's Invitational. Champions have been crowned since 2023.

The women's own national championships, and the event people confuse with the U.S. Open. This is where the age group titles and the age group World Team Trials are decided.

Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament, women's freestyle

The wrestle-off for everyone who did not win the U.S. Open. The winner at each weight goes to Final X.
Girls and women Senior women's freestyle. In 2026, 91 women qualified across seven weight classes; three weights skipped it because a returning World medallist was waiting at Final X.

U.S. Marine Corps Junior and 16U Nationals (women's freestyle), Fargo

Fargo. USA Wrestling calls it the largest wrestling competition in the world, and the women's divisions close it out in the third week of July.
Girls and women Junior women's freestyle, held since 2002, and 16U women's freestyle, held since 2011. In 2026 they drew 2,287 individual wrestlers between them.

The USA Wrestling regionals
Seven regional championships run in the spring, in freestyle and Greco-Roman, girls and boys. They matter because several state associations count a placement here toward the state's Fargo team. Which ones count, and how high you have to place, is set by your state association and not by USA Wrestling.

What is not here, and why
A tournament with no girls' division does not get a row. That is the whole filter. We checked the three winter invitationals people ask about most and all three passed: the Walsh Jesuit IRONMAN runs Women of IRONMAN, POWERade runs girls' elementary, 15U and high school brackets, and the Ken Kraft Midlands has run a women's division every year since 2022.
A date nobody has posted is not a date. Six of the rows above say the month and TBA, because when we read the organizer's page there was no 2026-27 date on it. We will not carry last season's weekend forward. Check back, or tell us when one is posted and we will re-read the page.
This is the national tier only. Your state championship series, the one that actually decides a high school season, is on the calendar, one page per state.
