Jacarra Winchester is a U.S. freestyle wrestler from Oakland, California, and the 2019 World champion at 55 kg, about 121 pounds. She placed fifth at the Tokyo Olympics, won World silver in 2023 and has made six Senior World Teams.
She started wrestling as a junior at Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo and won North Coast Section girls' titles in 2009 and 2010. At Missouri Valley College she was the 2013 WCWA runner-up at 116 pounds and the 2015 WCWA champion at 130 pounds. In 2014 she took bronze at the University World Championships in Pecs, Hungary.
In 2018 she won the U.S. Open and Final X and placed fifth at the Worlds in Budapest. She won both again in 2019. At the Worlds in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, she beat Nanami Irie of Japan 5-3 in the final on September 18, the first American gold of those championships.
Because 55 kg is not an Olympic class, she moved to 53 kg. She swept Ronna Heaton of the Sunkist Kids in the 2021 Olympic Team Trials final in Fort Worth. In Tokyo she lost the bronze-medal match to Vanesa Kaladzinskaya of Belarus.
Back at 55 kg, she was fifth at the 2022 Worlds in Belgrade, Serbia. She returned there in 2023 and reached the final, which she lost 4-2 to Haruna Okuno of Japan.
In 2024 she won the 57 kg challenge bracket at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials and lost the final series to Olympic medalist Helen Maroulis of the Sunkist Kids. She placed 14th at 59 kg at that year's Worlds in Tirana, Albania. In June 2025 she beat Abigail Nette of the Army WCAP in a three-match Final X series, then placed 22nd at the Worlds in Zagreb. She was seeded first at 59 kg for the 2026 Senior World Team Trials in Louisville, and USA Wrestling's results list no match for her there.
She trains at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center and wrestles at 59 kg for the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club.
