Alara Boyd wrestled for Yorktown High School outside Muncie, Indiana. As a sophomore in September 2016 she won a bronze medal at the Cadet World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, at 60 kg, about 132 pounds, opening with a win over Iryna Zhurauliova of Belarus. A year later in Athens, Greece, she took silver at 65 kg, losing the final 1-1 to Honoka Nakai of Japan. She won Indiana girls' state titles in 2017 and 2019, at the state championships held before the IHSAA sanctioned girls' wrestling for 2024-25.
At McKendree University she went 23-6 at 143 pounds as a freshman and placed second at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships. The next season she went 12-1 and won the NCWWC national title at 155 pounds. She was the runner-up again in 2022. Between college seasons she made two Junior World Teams, placing eighth at 62 kg in Tallinn, Estonia, in 2019 and fifth at 65 kg in Ufa, Russia, in 2021. She placed fourth at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in 2021. She wrestled her last college season at North Central College, going 14-1 and placing third at the 2024 NCWWC championships.
Boyd joined the North Central College coaching staff in 2024 and kept wrestling at the Senior level. In November 2024 she won the Bill Farrell Memorial International at 62 kg in New York, beating U.S. Olympic Training Center resident Skylar Hattendorf 9-0 in the final. In 2025 she was the Bill Farrell runner-up and placed third at the Senior World Team Trials, which put her on the U.S. national team at 62 kg. She placed third at the 2026 U.S. Open with a first-period fall.
She wrestles at 62 kg out of the Bears Regional Training Center after her first year on the U.S. national team. She is also an assistant coach for Brown University women's wrestling.
