NFHS's own officials' guide says boys' singlets are not designed for female wrestlers. So which women's singlets are actually designed, and which just print the word on a unisex pattern? We read every product page so you can see the difference.

How we grade these
Two honest categories. Cut detailed means the brand documents what is actually different about the women's construction: the neckline, the back, the chest, the inseam. Label only means it is sold as women's with no construction detail anywhere we could find. Label only is not an insult; several label-only singlets here fit fine. It just means you are trusting a label where nothing verifiable stands behind it, and you should not pay a premium for that.
RUDIS

RUDIS's collection page says these are designed using exact measurements of elite female athletes, with a wrestler's cut, mesh panels, and no-slip leg bands. The product page itself carries no construction detail, so the claim sits at collection level. Two things back it up: the Ninety-5 model in the same line documents added back panels and a higher neckline, and RUDIS publishes a real women's size chart with a bust column, which unisex lines do not have.
Cliff Keen
The Racerback

The cheapest name-brand women's singlet here. X Small to X Large, four colors. Amazon had the Medium at $59.99, essentially the same price as direct.
Cliff Keen's own listing says it plainly: designed by women, for women, with a racerback cut for the upper back and neckline and higher inseams for mobility. That construction detail appears on Cliff Keen's Amazon listing rather than its own product page, which is odd, but it is the brand speaking either way.

aSW102s Women's Singlet

Girls S/M/L plus women's XS to 3XL. Amazon had it at $49.95 when we checked, cheaper than adidas's own wrestling store.
The entire women-specific description is one sentence about the three-stripe design. Nothing about the cut. It is a women's SKU (the W in aSW102s) with no documented construction difference.

asics.com blocked our checks entirely, so no brand price. WrestlingMart listed it at $28.99 with every size sold out; Amazon had it at $39.95.
The retailer copy promises a tailored fit that conforms to your body's shape, which is fit language, not construction language. A sentence claiming it is designed and cut for a female circulates in search results, but it never appeared on any page we could actually load, so we do not repeat it as fact.

No construction description at all; the Savage's product description field is literally empty. What earns this line a place anyway is the size run: a real women's weight-based chart going down to W4XS for wrestlers under 50 pounds, the deepest small-size run of any brand here. If you are buying for a young or small athlete, this chart is the reason to look.
MyHOUSE
Women's USA Mettle Freestyle

$60 to $63 depending on size. Eleven sizes spanning youth (WYS) to women's XXL. Their main business is custom team singlets at $65 to $68.
For the women's racerback custom line, MyHOUSE documents a raised chest and underarm and a non-slip shoulder, and calls it NFHS approved, which is the vendor's own claim since NFHS publishes no product registry. The stock Mettle page itself carries no construction detail, so the detailed cut claim belongs to the custom line, not this exact model.
Buy by the weight chart, not your street size
Singlet sizing is weight-based where it is done well, and two brands publish real women's charts. RUDIS's women's Elite chart runs XS at 80 to 110 pounds through 3XL at 180 plus, with a bust measurement column. WrestlingMart's chart runs from W4XS for wrestlers under 50 pounds through W2XL above 176, which covers youth wrestlers nobody else sizes for. Cliff Keen, adidas, Asics and MyHOUSE sell alpha sizes without published women's weight ranges, so with those you are matching a letter to your body and keeping the receipt.
A singlet should be snug everywhere and compressive nowhere painful: if it folds or bags anywhere at the back or chest, size down; if the leg bands roll, size up.
What makes a singlet legal for high school
From NFHS's own uniform rules pages: a one-piece singlet may be cut no lower in the back or front than the level of the armpits, and under the arms no lower than half the distance between the armpit and the belt line. A female wrestler in a one-piece must wear a sports bra that completely covers the breasts, plus a suitable undergarment covering the buttocks and groin. A compression shirt under the singlet is permitted but not required. There is also a full two piece option, and a guide to what goes under the singlet.
Every singlet on this page is a standard competition cut sold for folkstyle or freestyle; none of them is cut low enough to run into the armpit rule. Freestyle cuts, like the Patriot on our main gear page, sit differently through the shoulders than folkstyle cuts, which matters for comfort, not legality.
What we could not confirm
- Any price on asics.com, which returned an error to every check. We will not quote a price we did not see.
- The Asics "designed and cut for a female" sentence that search engines surface. It never appeared on a page we could load.
- MyHOUSE's "NFHS approved" claim. NFHS publishes no product approval registry we could check it against, so it stays attributed to the vendor.
